A sound studio was struggling with its backup strategy. The amount of data was (and is) large. At irregular times, an unsecured copy of the data was made by hand on other hard drives that were kept outside the locattion. It was unclear whether these backups could be easily retrieved in the event of a disaster such as a fire or a ransomware attack.
Together with the customer I looked for the right solution. We found and created it.
With the solution created, a secure backup is now made every night to an external server. These backups are protected by encryption before they are sent and can therefore not be viewed or eavesdropped by another party during digital transport. To guarantee privacy, the data never leaves the EU.
Only the changed data (encrypted, of course) is transported every night. Nevertheless, in the event of a disaster, it is not necessary to restore all these individual backups. When restoring, you can always choose the complete situation from up to 21 days, up to 52 weeks, up to 60 months and even up to 10 years ago.
Every night the backup is automatically tested by comparing a random file from the backup with the current situation.
After the backup, the system sends an email to the customer with the result.
