A customer has their own VPS in the cloud that is used for the website and all email traffic. The customer wanted to move from one VPS provider to another, but did not know how to do this properly.
I took care of the application for the new VPS and prepared the DNS of the domain for an upcoming move. I installed the web server and email server on the new VPS, both including security certificates. The existing email was copied from the old to the new VPS so that no email was lost.
Good planning kept downtime to less than a minute!
After the move, the DNS was put back in order and the customer was able to cancel the old VPS.
