Password management

I was approached by an small company with a question about password management. The employees used Google Chrome’s password manager. As a result, they had become too dependent on Google.

Moreover, it was difficult to share current passwords for the jointly used services with colleagues. The customer had e.g. a joint subscription to a digital service to check professional knowledge. That service required you to regularly change the password used. If employee A was required to change the password after logging in, employee B could no longer log in. After all, B had still saved the previous password in the password manager.

I created a secure ‘password vault’ for the customer on their own server. All employees can safely store their own passwords here. No one else, including the administrator, can view or change these passwords. The digital safe remains under your own management, and is therefore no longer stored with Google Chrome, as before.

Moreover, this password vault makes it possible to share passwords within the organization. If employee A is required to change a password, it will automatically change in employee B’s safe.
